Grief Counseling
For teens, adults, families, & couples
It feels like this just might break you.
You’ve experienced a loss of some kind—the death of someone close to you, the loss of the way you expected life to look—and while you have done everything to “stay strong,” you’re not sure if you can keep this armor up much longer.
The bursts of grief are extreme; in one moment, you’re managing to feel okay and the next, you are completely & totally overwhelmed by it. You may be asking yourself questions like:
Is this normal?
What if this costs me my job/marriage/friendships?
Am I broken?
Will this ever get better?
Not to mention the isolation and loneliness that comes with the grief: like everyone is on eggshells around you, not wanting to upset you, or like they’ve already moved on while you’re still in the throes of it. It feels like there’s nowhere you can be honest about what this is really like for you.
We’ll support you with expertise & compassion, no matter what kind of loss you’ve experienced:
Parent loss
Sibling loss
Loss of a spouse or partner
Death by suicide
Traumatic loss
Death due to cancer
Divorce
how we can help
We’re here to be a companion on this journey.
Our team isn’t afraid to venture into the waters of grief or trauma with you. We won’t shy away from the hard stuff. We’ll meet you where you are and be there with you, offering a place where you can talk through and ask the questions about illness, death, or loss you haven’t been able to share elsewhere. And then, we’ll work on a path forward: one where you can honor this loss and learn to live life alongside it.
The staff at Blue Note has over 40 years of combined experience supporting those navigating grief & loss. With us, you’ll receive highly ethical, competent, and research-informed care every step of the way.
1
Normalize
Many responses to grief aren’t what you expect them to be. Part of our work is debunking the myths society has told us about this process, helping you extend more grace and compassion to yourself as you navigate grief & loss.
2
Engage
You’ve had enough of others telling you about their loss and how it relates to yours or feeling like you have to mask your real feelings for someone else’s sake. This is a place you can be your real, honest self and be met with validation and understanding.
3
Support
Our specialized training in grief counseling means we have research-informed methods to help you process the loss you’ve experienced and begin to see a path forward. We’ll always move at your pace, never pushing to a place you aren’t ready to go.
The only wrong way to grieve is not to grieve at all.

FAQs
-
The answer to this is highly individual. We work with some clients who are just a few weeks or months removed from the loss, and others who experience it many months or years ago. There is no right or wrong time to seek out support—if you’re struggling, we can help.
-
This is one of the myths society tells us about grief. For many people, it isn’t just sadness; it’s a whole host of other feelings, too. Please know that whatever you’re feeling is okay, it is valid, and it is welcome here.
-
We understand. As counselors, we’re not here to push you to somewhere you don’t want to go. Our goal is to meet you right where you are today, and also to help you begin to see a future that allows you not to forget or move on, but to honor the loss you’ve experienced and live a meaningful, fulfilling life with it.
-
We do not. We recognize the ways loss can impact your most important relationships, and our clinicians are trained to support couples and families navigating this terrain as well.
