Trauma-informed, attachment-based psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families with a focus on development of skills and a safe space to ask the big questions.

By making space for all of you, we can integrate your grief experience into your life. Doing so may open the possibility to move forward, instead of expecting yourself to move on.

Congratulations on taking this step to find a therapist. In what can be a daunting process, this action symbolizes your commitment to changing something in your life. You may have just experienced a loss, or are coming to terms with delayed grief years later. Because there is no “right” way to grieve, I am glad you have found yourself here, now.

My approach to the therapeutic experience is one of collaboration, where we work together to deepen your relationship to self so you may deepen your relationship to others. My training is trauma- and attachment-informed, which means we will often consider the somatic, or physical, experience as it relates to your emotional experience. Together we will explore what it means to be you. We will likely work together on building coping skills to get you some relief from current symptoms, and pair that with deeper, existential work to identify source wounds to examine and heal. Grief is not a linear process, and it can affect all aspects of our identities. By making space for all of you, we can integrate your grief experience into your life. Doing so may open the possibility to move forward, instead of expecting yourself to move on.

Grief work is deeply courageous. It forces us to face the most difficult truths of what it means to be human. I am honored to walk the path with my clients, as I have walked it myself. My substantial experience with grief and loss informs my desire to be in a connective space with people at their most human. I graduated from Tulane University in 2010 with a B.S. in Psychology, where I had the opportunity to do research in a stress and trauma lab after Hurricane Katrina. As a New Orleans native, I allowed the humbling experience of collective trauma and loss to inform my later decision to become a professional counselor. My interest in trauma and grief led me to pursue my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. The current epidemic of loss due to overdose inspires my work with individuals who struggle with substance use (and their friends and families). Counseling is a second career to me, after over a decade working in the service industry in bars and restaurants helped me hone my people skills, connecting with folks carrying their own trauma, substance abuse, grief, anxiety, and identity struggles.

Therapy is a unique space where you may find yourself having the full spectrum of emotions. This space is a sacred one, built on trust and acceptance. As such, I operate from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming stance. Though the counseling experience exists within a larger system of oppression, I hope to create a safe space of exploration, collaboration, and respect in our work together.

Katie’s fee starts at $150/individual session, $165/couple session, $180/family session, with a limited number of sliding-scale spots.
